Job Description

Kate Furbish Elementary School is a large naturebased and nurturing learning community serving students from PreK through Grade 2 in Brunswick Maine. We are committed to fostering curiosity creativity and a love of learning in every child. Our staff is passionate about early childhood development and dedicated to creating an inclusive and joyful classroom experience. We proudly implement the Maine Department of Educations For ME program in all of our classrooms which provide rich developmentally appropriate learning experiences designed to support wholechild growth. Intentional play is an integral part of our day.

We are seeking compassionate enthusiastic and experienced primary class teachers to join our team. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of early childhood education a passion for helping young learners grow academically socially and emotionally and a commitment to collaboration. We anticipate having multiple openings on our kindergarten to grade 2 teams.

Required Maine State Department of Education Certifications:

  • 020 or 029 Elementary Teacher Certification

Desired candidates will:

  • Have successful early elementary instructional experience
  • Utilize a collaborative mindset and a positive flexible attitude
  • Demonstrate familiarity with or willingness to learn Maine DOEs For ME program and philosophy
  • Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment supportive of academic and social learning
  • Show a strong understanding of child development and early literacy/numeracy practices
  • Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and provide meaningful feedback
  • Collaborate with colleagues specialists and families to support student success
  • Communicate regularly to share progress and celebrate milestones
  • Use technology effectively
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and contribute to schoolwide initiatives
