The Department of Agriculture Conservation & Forestry Bureau of Parks & Lands is looking to fill a vacant limited period Senior Planner position out of the Augusta Maine headquarters.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: The Statewide Trails Project Manager is a planner and partnership builder. The positions roles include significant responsibilities associated with the management of the Maine Trails Program which includes:
- Facilitating highlevel trail planning initiatives in coordination with other state and local agencies tribal governments trail advocacy and trail user constituencies
- Developing comprehensive processes for all aspects of trail project delivery
- Creating internal and external partnerships to assure those processes and systems are effective and efficient all ensuring the departments mission plays a central role in decision making

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelors Degree in assigned area and four 4 years of related work experience. Equivalent related experience may be substituted for education on a yearforyear basis.
Assigned Areas: Recreation Management Law Public Administration Business Management or related field.
Preference will be given to candidates with the following knowledge skills or experience:
- Knowledge of trail construction best management practices
- Knowledge of the practice principles and techniques of community trail development
- Knowledge of the federal state and local laws standards codes regulations and procedures which affect trail building and real estate transactions
- Knowledge of GIS (e.g. ESRI) products and tools is preferrable
- Knowledge of outdoor recreation and land management planning principles
- Ability to manage and use grant management software
- Experience successfully managing highprofile and missioncritical projects that affect an organizations financial outlook and perception by its stakeholders/customers
- Experience working with senior level managers to gain participation and ensure project success
