Job Description
General Maintenance Technician reporting to the Facilities Director of Dover schools; responsible for assisting in the operation and maintenance of mechanical systems equipment and furnishings. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform preventative maintenance to mechanical equipment and systemsPerform corrective work orders including but not limited to those listed below using common hand and power tools:oPatching and painting walls and surfacesoRepair replace or adjust inoperable doors and hardwareoReplace damaged or missing ceiling tilesoCove base and carpet repairsoHang boards pictures signs and other wall fastened furniture repairsoGeneral carpentry functionsoMinor plumbing repairsSourcing of parts and supplies to perform work functionsWork from elevated areas such as ladders and platforms utilizing protective equipment when required Work without direct supervision on daily assigned workEffectively communicate with school and facilities staff to accomplish assigned tasksMaintain adherence to work schedule and availability to work overtime as required Perform other related duties as assigned such as assisting other tradesmen and emergency repairsMaintain communication with supervisor regarding unresolved work issues
