SUMMARY:
The AdInterim Instructor of Communication (equivalent to Visiting Assistant Professorat East Texas A&M University (ETAMU) is responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in the BA/BSCommunication Studies program with a particular emphasis on support courses in Sports Media. This is a nontenure track appointment intended for the Fall 2025 through Spring 2026 terms. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach five courses (or equivalent) per semester in Communication (e.g. Mass Communication and Society Introduction to Sports Communication Journalism Podcasting Sports Writing Strategic Communications etc..
- Develop and maintain uptodate course materials including syllabi and instructional resources.
- Deliver engaging and effective instruction in multiple formats including online and oncampus.
- Collaborate with faculty to support interdisciplinary projects and departmental initiatives.
- Provide timely feedback and mentorship to students supporting their academic success.
- Participate in service activities at the department college university and broader community levels as appropriate.
- Stay current with trends and advancements in communication teaching methodologies and technological tools.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
Masters degree in Communication Media Journalism or a closely related field. (PhD in progress or a related terminal degree is a plus but not required for AdInterim appointments.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills: .
- Professional and/or teaching experience in media journalism or communications.
- Strong communication organizational and collaborative skills for effective engagement with students and colleagues.
- Proficiency in using technology to enhance teaching and learning (online and hybrid formats).
- Ability to: Multitask and work well as part of a team.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
- Prior teaching experience in Sports Media Strategic Communications or related Communication topics.
- Familiarity with online learning platforms and/or hybrid instructional methods.
- Experience providing mentorship or academic advising to undergraduate students.
- Evidence of continuing professional development in media journalism or communication fields.
