Job Description
The Common Market is a nonprofit distributor of local foods committed to strengthening regional farms by making healthy sustainable food accessible to schools hospitals and other institutions. We are looking for a dedicated Warehouse Associate with skills in order selection receiving and inventory quality control to join our dynamic team.
In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate selection and quality of food products within our warehouse. Your attention to detail and commitment to food safety will be crucial in maintaining the high standards expected in our operations.
Responsibilities
- Select pick and pack food orders accurately and efficiently for distribution to our clients
- Receive incoming shipments verify quality and quantities and document any discrepancies
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels conducting regular quality control checks
- Ensure proper storage and rotation of products to minimize waste
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations maintaining a clean and organized work environment
- Collaborate with team members to optimize warehouse processes and efficiency
Requirements
- Experienced certified forklift operator
- Experience in food warehouse operations including selecting receiving and inventory control
- Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations
- Ability to work in a refrigerated cold environment
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment including forklift and pallet jacks
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management software
- Ability to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Willingness to work in varying temperature conditions (refrigerated environment)
