Job Description
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design planning delivery and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words were the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers storage networking power and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Amazon Web Services Network Products Development team is looking for an experienced hardware engineering professional to help build our next generation networking platforms. The right candidate will play a key role in the design and development of our next generation Ethernet switching platforms for our world class data centers. Strong experience in modular chassis based enterprise/carrier products is a must.
Over the past few years we have increasingly turned to custom features in our networking products implemented in programmable logic devices. These features include environmental monitoring and control custom timing and hardware acceleration.
The ideal candidate is a strong programmable logic designer with experience as a design lead in the networking field. Previous experience designing with programmable logic is required. This includes architectural definition specification detailed design working closely with board designers and software engineers to implement programmable logic devices in our networking products and supporting the validation team in manufacturing test and supporting our products in the field. Previous experience in board design and working with Asian ODM and JDM partners is a plus.

Experience in developing functional specifications design verification plans and functional test procedures
BSEE with 5 years experience in programmable logic design must have taken products from concept to mass production
Strong logic design skills i.e. state machines asynchronous/synchronous design Boolean logic etc.
Verilog/SystemVerilog coding skills
Advanced knowledge of compilation place and route timing closure and programming of CPLDs/FPGAs
Working knowledge of source control / GIT repositories
Working knowledge of automated builds including Makefiles bash scripts and CI/CD environments
Experience writing test benches
Experience with code reviews
Some C proficiency
Experience managing outside (outside team or outside contractors) vendors on CPLD/FPGA development (documentation interfacing to SW development PLD testing system testing)
Ability to debug code written by others
Good verbal and written communication skills must be organized
Experience as a project and technical lead program management skills is a must
Experience interfacing with cross functional teams such SW engineers HW engineers diagnostic engineers and manufacturing/test engineers
While position is based in Cupertino candidate should be able to accommodate up to 10 travel to both Seattle and Asia. Candidate must be able to enter both Taiwan and China without visa issues.
Masters degree in electrical engineering computer engineering or equivalent
Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production
Experience with the project management of technical projects
Experience using Git/AWS CodeCommit repositories and other AWS builder tools such as CodePipeline CodeBuild and S3
Board design experience
Experience troubleshooting with oscilloscopes logic analyzers and specialized test equipment such as PCI analyzers and incircuit emulators
Experience defining and implementing modular chassis functions such as system redundancy hotswap power distribution environmental control and system management
Experienced interfacing with outside vendors and developers particularly Asian CMs and Asian ODM/JDM partners
