Job Description
Overview:
The SAP ABAP Developer specializing in Data Migration plays a critical role in the overall success of SAP projects by leveraging programming skills and indepth knowledge of machine data flow. This role involves supporting complex data migration activities by designing developing testing and implementing ABAP solutions. The developer will work closely with business analysts data architects and project managers to ensure the integrity and efficiency of data transfer between legacy systems and SAP environments. This position requires a strong understanding of both ABAP language and data management methodologies to streamline processes enhance performance and mitigate any data loss risks during migration. By achieving these objectives the SAP ABAP Developer significantly contributes to the organization s goal of digital transformation and improved business processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design develop and test ABAP programs for data extraction transformation and loading (ETL) processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and define data migration strategies.
- Analyze existing data structures identify gaps and propose effective solutions.
- Implement data validation and cleansing procedures to ensure high data quality.
- Optimize ABAP code to enhance performance during data migration.
- Perform debugging and troubleshooting of interfaces and datarelated issues.
- Participate in data migration assessments and provide technical insights.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation for data migration processes.
- Monitor data migration activities and report progress to project management.
- Provide expertise in data modeling to inform migration methodologies.
- Utilize tools like LSMW BAPIs and IDocs for effective data transfer.
- Maintain compliance with the organizations data governance policies.
- Coordinate with crossfunctional teams to facilitate data migration timelines.
- Conduct postmigration validation tests to ensure data integrity.
- Stay updated with the latest ABAP development and migration tools.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor s degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- 35 years of experience in ABAP development particularly focused on data migration.
- Strong knowledge of SAP modules (e.g. SD MM FI) and their data structures.
- Proficiency in SQL and database management.
- Experience with data migration tools and methodologies.
- Familiarity with SAP Data Services and other ETL tools.
- Ability to read and write technical documentation.
- Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum project environments.
- Effective communication skills to liaise with business and technical teams.
- Knowledge of SAP S/4HANA is a plus.
- Certification in SAP ABAP is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Committed to ongoing professional development in SAP technologies.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for project requirements.
