REPORTS TO: Solid Waste/Wastewater Operation TechnologistLOCATION: Biggars Lane Landfill Site and Paris Transfer Station Minimum Qualifications: - Grade 12 education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated technical skills including computer phone calculator and proficient in using Microsoft Word Excel Outlook and OneDrive.
- Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with a high level of professionalism and attention to detail with minimal Supervision.
- One year of relevant customer service or operations experience.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and public relations skills communicate well with others and possess good telephone skills.
- Cash Handling Experience.
- Ability to perform basic math.
- Ability to learn to distinguish types of waste that may or may not be accepted by the landfill or transfer station and discern type of waste inside vehicle from a platform.
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant municipal bylaws Standard Operating Procedures etc.
- Demonstrated ability to keep accurate organized records with high attention to detail.
- Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and demonstrated safe work practices (in compliance with applicable legislation i.e. Occupational Health and Safety Act etc..
- Ability to travel between County offices and facilities as required.
- Acceptable Police Records Check.
- CSA approved safety footwear and clothing appropriate for weather conditions are required at your own expense.
Assets: - Knowledge of the Waste Industry.

Duties:This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary. - Set Up / Close Out scale house for daily operations (i.e. computer cash box etc..
- Receive payments (cash debit credit card account) from customers and make change.
- Balance the daily receipts to ensure accurate record keeping and appropriate billing and monitor the float for daily transactions to ensure adequate change is on hand.
- At the end of the day balance the cash and deliver the daily bank deposit and paperwork to the County of Brant Burford or Paris office.
- Obtain information regarding material entering landfill or transfer station by greeting customer asking screening questions to customer and visually confirming contents are appropriate for landfill or transfer station disposal.
- Accept or reject load based on content and suggest possible alternatives based on County requirements (Bylaw SOPs etc..
- Record relevant information (i.e. weight license plate number waste type etc. on scale house ticket.
- Direct customer to appropriate dropoff locations for waste. Notify operations staff via 2way radios of materials to be disposed.
- When a customer is leaving the site record final weight and applicable charge on scale house ticket. Collect payment. Provide receipt(s) to customer and document all information in the computerized logbook.
- Handle receipt of special waste loads by processing required paperwork (e.g. Asbestos). Notify operations staff via 2way radio of an incoming special load for proper disposal.
- Answer the telephone and provide information to the public regarding hours of operation acceptable types of waste location and directions to the landfill or transfer station and prices associated with disposal.
- Maintain the cleanliness of scale house and waste drop off areas at the Paris Transfer Station
- Maintain a positive and professional working relationship with staff and users of the facilities.
- Yard Attendant shifts at the Paris Transfer Station includes providing directions to customers for proper sorting and placement of waste materials in designated locations. Must be prepared to work in all weather conditions
- Other duties as assigned.
Current hourly rate: $28.57
Hours of work per week: Monday to Saturday Approximately 8 to 30.5 hours per week as assigned
