Olympic College is seeking to hire a fulltime Maintenance Mechanic 4 position. The position supports the Colleges mission by performing Supervisory or expertlevel work in the maintenance repair remodeling alteration and construction of Olympic College buildings grounds facilities and equipment.

The Maintenance Mechanic 4 is a seniorlevel position responsible for supervising journeylevel trades workers and others engaged in maintenance repair and modifications to building mechanical equipment machinery special apparatus utilities and facilities. This includes but is not limited to laundry kitchen hospital laboratory elevator printing airconditioning power plant and heavy construction equipment. This role requires advanced technical expertise leadership in mentoring junior staff and the ability to ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions

Conduct extensive maintenance & repairs

  • Conduct preventive maintenance repairs and modifications on facility systems including HVAC plumbing electrical and mechanical components.
  • Inspect projects to ensure compliance with local codes and industry standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and plans to determine scope of work required materials estimated costs and availability.
  • Order materials and maintain an adequate inventory to support maintenance activities.
  • Conduct emergency maintenance and respond effectively to urgent repair needs.
  • Conduct repairs and remodels buildings including framing walls rafters and roofs.
  • Installs tapes finishes and paints interior sheetrock walls
  • Install countertops ensuring proper fitting and alignment.
  • Constructs and assembles customfit cabinets desks bookcases worktables and benches.
  • Installs doors and paints interior and exterior surfaces.
  • Installs and maintains pipes valves drains basins faucets lavatories air conditioning laundry equipment kitchen equipment gates hydrants plumbing electrical and mechanical fixtures conducting repairs as needed.
  • Constructs forms and pours concrete.
  • Repairs windows doors screens floors floor coverings and painted surfaces.
  • Installs and maintains electrical connections switches circuits electrical equipment thermostats and valves conducts repairs as needed.
Conduct crucial and extensive repairs on all types of mechanical equipment such as electrical drive motors laundry kitchen hospital laboratory and airconditioning equipment.
  • Change oil grease change or clean filters drive belts sprockets shafts and bearings to ensure proper operation.
  • Maintains and repairs motor vehicles heavy construction equipment and shop equipment including gas and diesel engines. Tasks include oil changes lubrication fixing flats repairing lights replacing fan belts and other routine maintenance.
  • Install and maintain elevator components printing and bindery machines power plant equipment wood and metal working shop machines and conveying systems.
  • Operate Class A equipment in snow and ice control.
  • Operate hand tools power tools and other shop equipment; perform welding and metal fabrication; fabricate materials and equipment.
  • Remodel and construct facilities in accordance with project requirements; assist in the preparation of engineering data under the direction of an engineer.
Lead staff by providing guidance mentoring and oversight to ensure effective performance professional development and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Assist supervisor with daily departmental workload meetings to communicate site safety plans and provide recommendations to maintenance team.
  • Collaborate with supervisor on developing and implementing maintenance procedures to ensure efficiency and safety. Identify maintenance problems and recommend solutions to the maintenance team for prompt repairs.
  • Identify repairs that are needed and develop estimates for the repairs maintenance or alteration projects using internal and external sources and provide estimates to supervisor for final review.

Monitor the safe and efficient operation of key plant equipment such as boilers air handlers chillers variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems air compressors and other HVACrelated systems.

  • Check Ensure all equipment and facilities operate efficiently while maintaining compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain safety fire protection and environmental control equipment.
  • Ensure proper deenergization of communication equipment following lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Test for and monitor radio frequency energy on or around communication towers.
  • Assures adherence to safety rules and precautions by assigned personnel.
  • Monitor safety fire protection and environmental control equipment to ensure building systems and equipment operate in a satisfactory condition.
  • Respond to service requests and secure necessary assistance; take preventive and emergency action to control malfunctions.
Maintain accurate Work Order & Maintenance documentation by documenting all completed repairs in Direct Line Megamations
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs for assigned machinery and equipment.
  • Review and complete assigned work orders through the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities inspections and repairs.
  • Generate reports as required and identify solutions for recurring maintenance issues.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and/or equivalent

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials

  • Knowledge of safety protocols fire protection systems and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively in emergency situations.

Preferred/Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in maintenance and repair of electrical mechanical plumbing and HVAC systems.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problemsolving abilities.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints schematics and technical manuals.

  • Excellent leadership communication and team coordination skills.

  • Knowledge of safety protocols fire protection systems and regulatory compliance.

  • Experience with communication tower rigging maintenance and safety procedures.

  • Ability to work independently and respond effectively in emergency situations.


Work setting including hazards:

Comfortable working in various conditions including confined spaces heights and inclement weather. Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and materials.

Additional Information

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.

This is a fulltime classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week with a salary range of$66012 $76608 annually.All classified positions will start their salary at Step A when you have completed six months of probation you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:
