SUMMARY:
The Histotechnician prepares thin sections of human tissue preliminary to microscopic examination interpretation and diagnosis by the Pathologist.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent; ASCP registration or equivalent; two years experience in histology under the direction of a Pathologist or Histotechnician trainee who has completed an 18 month inhouse program.
PHYSICAL GUIDELINES:
Physical guidelines include the ability to move traverse position self remain in a stationary position and negotiate steps for up to eight hours per day; exposure to hazardous materials; visual acuity; ability to read and understand communication; move lift and position materials weighing up to 20 pounds; distinguish colors.
