Job Description
The AWS Region Services team is hiring a cleared Cloud Systems Engineer to support cloud security services for the U.S. Intelligence Community. Join our mission to help lead deploy and support the security systems that raise the security bar for the U.S. Government.
As a Cloud Engineer on our team you will be instrumental in managing the operational load to scale a massive & alwayson distributed system proactively automating away problems in order to improve the quality of service for our security operations customers.
If you thrive in operating complex systems diagnosing and resolving the hardest corner case operations problems please apply! Our systems engineers dont just solve problems we look to engineer services to scale with lots of automation decreasing effort along the way. We know that the really interesting problems are hiding inside this automation challenge.
Youll work sidebyside with our security engineers and service development teams to deploy and maintain the security information and event management (SIEM) platform they use every day. We have a lot of log data to process and we need your help! Youll implement mechanisms to drive our availability metrics up and our latency metrics down. Were need you to think big and ensure that were set up to scale for the future. We need you to Invent and Simplify new operational tools to improve the velocity of our Security Operations service customers.
Were not looking for hands or button pressers were looking for motivated individuals who want to scale security systems and change the way the business operates as a result. You need to be open to new challenges and willing to learn new technologies. In addition to using internal Amazon tooling we are huge advocates for using public AWS services to build our platform You should always be thinking how could this work without me involved and then working to build those tools to achieve it.
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph.

Associates degree or Cloud or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
3 years of systems administration experience Linux/Unix (Ubuntu CentOS RedHat Solaris etc) in production environments.
1 years of experience working with scripting languages (Bash Shell Python).
Experience with DNS DHCP SSH HTTP TCP/IP and other common network protocols
Current active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
Proficiency in one or more scripting languages (Bash Python Ruby Perl)
Experience developing distributed service applications & developing user experiences scenarios
Excellent analytical ability and communications skills
Strong interpersonal relationship skills
Working experience and good understanding of the AWS environment including VPC EC2 EBS S3 SQS Cloud Formation and Lambda.
Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues.
A history of dealing well with ambiguity prioritizing needs and delivering measurable results in a dynamic environment.
Experience with maintaining distributed systems and web services
Automation testing or monitoring framework development
Experience in a 24x7 production environment esp. one based on Linux

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $105200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $188200/year in our highest geographic market.
