The QEII Halifax Infirmary Expansion Program (HIEP) is a 1.2 million square foot expansion of the Province of Nova Scotias existing QEII campus being completed under a complex P3 contract structure. PCL Constructors Canada Inc. is collaborating with multiple partners from across the country to undertake the single largest healthcare infrastructure project considered in Nova Scotia. As a complex mega project PCL is assembling a team of experienced construction professionals that will be dedicated to the completion of the project.As a student at PCL you will get the opportunity for challenging work assignments in a supportive work environment which promotes personal and professional growth.
We are seeking an Engineering Student for ourToronto District working inHalifax within our Canadian Buildings Division that are available for 4 month or 8 months starting in May 2025.
As an Engineering Student you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:
Responsibilities
Project Coordination
Coordinating drawings
Coordinating work specific scope / trades
Conducting trade quote reviews verify material quantities verify hours verify rates
Participating in project meetings
Conducting deficiency walks
Inputting / Updating deficiency logs
Issuing warranties
Taking / Coordinating progress photos
Updating field drawings
Producing asbuilt drawings
Field Coordination
Performing quantity takeoffs
Coordinating subtrade work
Verifying site conditions and coordinating with drawings
Supervising subtrade work
Settingup / Maintaining record keeping
Layout site lines and grades using total station
Scheduling:
Updating project schedules
Creating manual schedules
Creating and updating schedules using Primavera P6 EPPM software
Obtaining scheduling information from subtrades
Creating and maintaining graphical scheduling using AutoCAD.
Monitoring workforce productivity
Qualifications
Candidates must have a strong desire to work in a construction environment and prior field construction experience will be considered an asset.
Application of various computer software programs will be required including word processing spreadsheet applications and drafting.
