Job Description
Austin Industrial Inc. We seek an experienced Machinist/Pump Mechanic based in Houston Texas.
This position requires NCCER a Valid Drivers License and a TWIC Card.
Maintenance position works 4x10s plus occasional OT No Per Diem.

Machinist/Pump Mechanic
Must be able to set up and operate manually controlled machines in skilled precision and bench work in the fabrication maintenance repair and alteration of machinery machine parts tools and equipment. Other duties may be assigned.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs all tasks safely and responsibly.
- Reads and interprets blueprints.
- Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.
- Uses precision tools machinery and equipment such as a lathe vertical milling machine drill press hydraulic press chop saw band saw pushandpull broaches and a variety of cutting tools and equipment.
- Fabricates and shapes parts such as tools and machine parts out of metal plastics and composites
- Properly and safely selects aligns secures and removes holding fixtures cutting tools attachments accessories and materials onto machines.
- Recognizes deploys and properly uses inserts fixtures and tooling.
- Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment
- Evaluate experimental procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to setup and production.
- Ability to track parts and jobs into the Vantage system.
- Connect the power unit to machines or steam piping to equipment and test the unit to evaluate its mechanical operation.
- Repair and lubricate machines and equipment.
- Utilizes and abides by ISO requirements and safety procedures.
- Complies with all quality policies specifications regulations and instructions.
- Replace defective machine parts or adjust clearances and alignment of moving parts.
- Align machines and equipment using hoists jacks hand tools squares rules micrometers and plumb bobs.
- Assemble and install equipment using hand tools and power tools.
- Position steel beams to support bedplates of machines and equipment using blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
- Signal crane operator to lower basic assembly units to bedplate and align unit to centerline.
- Insert shims adjust tension on nuts and bolts or position parts using hand tools and measuring instruments to set specified clearances between moving and stationary parts.
- Move machinery and equipment using hoists dollies rollers and trucks.
- Attach moving parts and subassemblies to basic assembly unit using hand tools and power tools.
- Assemble machines and bolt weld rivet or otherwise fasten them to foundation or other structures using hand tools and power tools.
- Lay out mounting holes using measuring instruments and drill holes with power drill.
- Bolt parts such as side and deck plates jaw plates and journals to basic assembly unit.
- Level bedplate and establish centerline using straightedge levels and transit.
- Dismantle machines using hammers wrenches crowbars and other hand tools.
- Shrinkfit bushings sleeves rings liners gears and wheels to specified items using portable gas heating equipment.
- Dismantle machinery and equipment for shipment to the installation site usually performing installation and maintenance work as part of a team.
- Construct foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood cement and steel.
- Operate engine lathe to grind file and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required for this Position:
Education no minimum education requirements.
Certifications/ Licenses:NCCER a Valid Drivers License and a TWIC Card.
Experience 4 years of Journeyman level experience.
