General Job Description

Carrier Compliance Specialist responsible for supporting the Cowan Logistics LLC operations team. This person supports operations department personnel and performs prescribed tasks as well as any ad hoc tasks assigned by manager. Candidate will be responsible for all safety and compliance aspects of Cowan Logistics which includes accurate entry of sensitive data processing of necessary vendor profile information and excellent customer service skills with vendors coworkers and management. All potential candidates must be detail and customer service orientated with the drive to go above and beyond in supporting Cowans value added service initiative to our carriers.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Onboard and prequalify all vendors that are not yet set up with Cowan
  • Verify that all carriers moving Cowan loads are active through obtaining all required documentation and ensuring proper authority insurance and safety ratings are maintained
  • Monitor multiple databases and emails to ensure all documentation is processed and questions are answered in a timely manner
  • Ensure all documents received meet federal and company requirements and index them properly through a document management database
  • Audit daily reports from internal and external sources to maintain an accurate database
  • Work closely with Logistics Operations Team and Management to ensure lines of communication are open
  • Perform additional vendor related tasks as assigned
  • Inform other departments and divisions on compliance protocol through communication and presentations

Skills & Requirements

  • Ability to work successfully and professionally within a team based environment
  • Must have a strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Must have at least 2 years of experience with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prioritize and problem solve in a fast paced environment
  • Strong communication (both verbal and written)
  • High school diploma required
