Job Title:Machine Operator Freight Elevator Operator

Job Summary:
The Machine Operator Freight Elevator Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of freight elevators ensuring the timely and secure transport of materials and personnel within the building. This role also includes some custodial and customer service duties.
Responsibilities
Freight Elevator Operation:
- Answer freight calls promptly prioritize calls and maintain operational efficiency.
- Operate the freight elevator in a safe and efficient manner.
- Regularly inspect incoming and outgoing materials/cargo for safe transport.
- Prevent damage to freight.
- Halt transport of materials if they are not safely secured or present safety concerns (e.g. related to length weight etc..
- Regularly report maintenance issues to management including problems with the elevators operation (e.g. lighting leveling door function).
- Liaise with elevator technicians as needed.
- Continuously check the identification of passengers (building employees tenants vendors contractors and visitors) before allowing access.
- For restricted areas obtain approval from management or security.
- Regularly review emergency freight operations procedures including safe operation and assisting individuals with disabilities during emergencies.
- Liaise with emergency response teams during medical emergencies evacuations power outages and other critical situations
Custodial Duties:
- Assist with the removal/delivery of dumpsters carts and other department equipment.
- Sweep and pick up trash cigarettes and other debris outside of designated areas.
- Assist with deliveries and shipments..
Customer Service:
- Greet patrons upon arrival.
- Assist patrons with moving materials on and off the freight elevator ensuring the safety of the materials.
- Communicate regularly with customers to help maintain efficiency and positive relationships.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit stand hear and see on a constant basis.
- Must be able to walk write and type frequently.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
- Must be able to bend carry reach push and pull on an occasional basis.
- Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.
- May work indoors and outdoors as needed.
- May be exposed to heat (up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit) and cold (down to 0 degrees Fahrenheit).
- May work in areas where hearing protection is required due to noise levels.
- May work in areas where toxic flammable and hazardous materials are present.
- May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.
- Work surfaces may include concrete.
- Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.
