At Ronald McDonald House Charities British Columbia and Yukon(RMH BC) we envision a province where families stay close to their sickchildren. Today 2 out of 3 Canadians live in a city or town without achildrens hospital. Our Mission is to give sick children the healing power ofbeing together with family.
As a champion of familycentered care we enable access tochildrens hospitals by providing families with sick children accommodationmeals and wellness programs that support their emotional and physicalwellbeing.
In 1983 the first RMH BC House opened its doors in Vancouver witha 13Bedroom House and over the years with an increase in demand for thisessential service construction of a new building was underway. In 2014 a73bedroom House was unveiled on the grounds of BC Childrens Hospital alongwith a new 2000 sq. ft. RMH Family Room in Surrey Memorial Hospital. As thesecondlargest House in Canada and one of the largest in the world RMH BC willcontinue to grow and meet the needs of families across BC and Yukon.
Our team is thebackbone of our organizationserving our families supporting volunteers anddonors and spreading awareness every single day.
About the Position
Weare seeking a Summer Food Services Assistant who will work collaborativelywithin the Family Services food team to support the delivery of our foodprogram. This role will work directly with RMH staff food partners volunteersand families which requires the ability to interact in a thoughtful energizedand forwardthinking manner.
Thisis a fulltime position typically working Sunday Thursday from 12pm to 8pmthroughout the summer from June 2025 to end of August 2025.
Dutiesinclude but are not limited to:
- Work alongside our Chef and Food Services Team to execute family meals.
- Assist in foodbased activities and services including grab n go bags freezer meals Lunch2Go snacks from scratch baking celebration meals etc.
- Receiving food and kitchen supplies.
- Monitor and track food inventory and kitchen equipment.
- Help set up and tear down food service areas for events programs or meal services.
- Assist with dishwashingsanitizing surfaces and proper waste disposal.

- Compassionate and caring organized and detailoriented driven to help those in need passionate for missiondriven work positive and optimistic motivated to improve the lives of families whose child is receiving medical care
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the organization in supporting families.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet timelines.
- Organized good time management effective at completing tasks solution oriented
- Food Safe certification
Experience and EducationalRequirements
Thisposition is supported by the Canada Summer Jobs program and applicants mustmeet the following program requirements:
- Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;
- Is a Canadian Citizen permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under theImmigration and Refugee Protection Act; and
- Is legally entitled to workaccording to the relevant provincial/ territorial legislation andregulations.
