Exciting position to work within our Major Infrastructure Team working on MultiBillion pound projects!

The Anglian Water Strategic Asset Management Sponsorship team has been formed to champion the delivery of a Major Projects Portfolio of circa 1bn of capital investment in AMP8. Within the Sponsorship team the Governance & Assurance function provides portfolio management governance and assurance for these key major infrastructure projects.

The Governance & Assurance team are seeking an experienced Governance & Assurance Manager to lead and enhance the governance and assurance framework for our major projects and programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and help deliver Anglian Waters most ambitious capital delivery AMP on record.

The successful candidate will lead the strategic oversight over the major projects governance and assurance function ensuring robust governance and assurance functions are in place. The role will involve collaboration with senior stakeholders both internally in Anglian Water and externally.

What will you be doing

Develop implement and maintain governance frameworks;

  • You will be responsible for the development implementation and maintenance of our governance frameworks across the Major projects portfolio.

  • Securing approval and agreement to the frameworks that you develop

  • It will be essential that you support the business integrity and compliance against these frameworks

Lead assurance activities including internal audits risk assessments and regulatory compliance reviews;

  • You will be an integral role in the assurance and audit cycle and will be expected to work with both internal and external parties

  • You will be responsible for developing project Integrated Assurance and Approvals Plans (IAAPs) and responsible for ensuring that 2nd and 3rd Line of Defence reviews are undertaken and findings are implemented.

Monitor and report on governance and assurance performance identifying areas for improvement;

  • You will be responsible for not just the monitoring of project assurance but how effective our IAAPs are. Where necessary it will be expected that you will alter these to suit if required.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external regulators to enhance governance standards

  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

What does it take to be the Assurance & Assurance Lead

  • Ideally educated to degree level with appropriate technical qualification or equivalent experience

  • Membership of a relevant professional organisation (ICE APM etc)

  • Significant experience of major project governance and assurance

  • Significant experience of providing right first time reporting

  • Experience of creating and improving Integrated Assurance & Approvals Plans (IAAP)

  • Audit experience of Major Projects (desirable)

  • Experience of providing governance and integrated assurance advice risk potential assessments gateway reviews and services for a large and diverse portfolio of projects and programmes

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships and influence people at all levels within the organisation
