You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Physician Assistant has advanced health assessment and decisionmaking skills prepared through a formal educational program that meets criteria established by the profession. Physician Assistants are certified by examination of an approved certifying body. This individual works in collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals to provide health care across the continuum of care for assigned patients. The Physician Assistant provides clinical services in a hospital setting and work as a first assist in the operating room or perform complex procedures on a regular basis (i.e. daily/weekly) which is greater than 50 of their time. Complex procedures are considered to have a major impact on hemodynamics fluid shifts or possible major blood loss requiring a high acuity setting. This position will be required to participate in the oncall rotation and provide coverage for various shifts weekends and holidays. Physician Assistants provide primary and specialty health care to new and established patients assess and manage common acute and chronic illnesses consult and make referrals and collaborate with physicians and other members of the health care team. The provision of care includes but is not limited to obtaining patient history comprehensive assessment ordering conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests and prescribing pharmacological agents and treatments and nonpharmacological therapies. Monitors the effectiveness of the therapeutic interventions. Makes appropriate referrals. Performs minor procedures as approved by the AZ Regulatory Board of Physician Assistants. This individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of the patients status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patients agespecific needs is required. The Physician Assistant will be involved in patient and family education of disease management and treatments and may also be involved in research or educational activities within their department. Physician Assistants are expected to serve as mentors and to participate in clinical improvement and research projects as appropriate to the clinical setting. Other specialty specific job responsibilities required as needed. The Physician Assistant demonstrates leadership through involvement on committees and team projects education and research and actively seeks to improve the practice through performance improvement initiatives. Remains active in professional organizations and participates in community activities. Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet patient and staff needs. Ability to manage time and stress effectively and adapt to unpredictable situations within the patient care setting.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
Active BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required
