Postoperative RN - Surgical Care Unit - Days - Full-time

Womans postsurgery team in the Surgical Care Unit supports patients after surgery monitoring their recovery and providing clear instructions for ongoing care and expectations. This team works with patients who need surgical and interventional radiology procedures.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required
• Current licensure by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing is required
• One year as a registered nurse with most of that experience in perioperative services preferred

Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

• Assess patients postoperative condition.
• Monitor vital signs and other measurements of progress meeting discharge criteria to go home.
• Answer patient questions and ensure patient comfort along with education on discharge instructions.
• Monitor patients for condition changes reporting any changes to physician.
• Provide education and emotional support appropriate to age culture condition and circumstance.
• Coordinates all aspects of nursing care with all disciplines of the surgical team to achieve defined patient outcomes.
• Maintains a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practice.
• Directs and assists in care and handling of state of the art supplies equipment and instruments.
• Document care based on standards of care and practice patient acuity and/or clinical priority.
• Provide patient centric care in alignment with professional nursing practice standards ANA Standards & the LA Nurse Practice Act.
• Perform other duties assigned by Department management according to policies and procedures and the mission of Womans Hospital.

Hours:

Three 12 hour shifts per week MondayFriday from 9am to 9pm

Pay

$27.72 $44.35 base pay
