The reason I love my position as a counselor at Horizon is the chaos. Coming into work every day and dealing with the fastpaced uncertainty of treating people in crisis is continually exciting and every day holds new experiences. This has taught me to think on my feet as a counselor and to be able to adapt and overcome any situation. The other great thing about working in residential treatment is being able to see the same patients every day for weeks at a time. Instead of leaving a session and saying we will come back to this in 2 weeks I can leave a session and say to a patient journal about that tonight and we can talk in the morning.

• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop treatment plans that identify patients needs and strengths
• Provide individual and group counseling
• Participate in weekly oneonones with your manager as well as team meetings to discuss cases
• Coordinate and collaborate with other service providers and family members
• Maintain patient records consistent with regulatory requirements and quality assurance standards
• Perform other duties as defined by the Program Director

What has prepared you for this opportunity

In addition to all of the allnighters and cramming for exams

• CASAC or CASACT (Credentialed Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor)

OR

• Masters degree in a program that will grant licensure in the state of New York

Location:

Conveniently located on Elm Street in downtown Buffalo Terrace House is a 68bed facility offering stabilization and medically supervised detox treatment. We provide twentyfourhour care to adults who need support counseling observation nursing and medical care to achieve initial stabilization from drug and/or alcohol withdrawal.

Hours:

This position is fulltime Sunday Thursday with the following schedule: Sunday & Thursday: 8:00am 4:00pm Monday: 12:00pm 8:00pm Tuesday & Wednesday: 10:00am 6:00pm.

Compensation:

Horizon is consistently evaluating our compensation and benefit packages to ensure we remain competitive. The range of pay for this position is $50960 $62296. Starting pay may be impacted based on experience and education. There is also a 15 pay differential for weekend hours worked. Compensation adjustments are evaluated annually.

Physical demands associated with this position include:

• Sitting for extended periods alternating between standing and sitting
• Mobility required between worksites and within facilities
• Mobility required with repetitive wrist hand and finger movements
• Handling light duties occasionally lifting objects up to 20 pounds
