Job Description
The Chief Engineer reports to the General Manager and directly supervises the facility maintenance staff for the Fairbanks locations. The Chief Engineer performs a wide range of facilities services tasks including nontechnical maintenance of plumbing electrical heating ventilating and/or air conditioning facilities and equipment at a level not requiring formal licensure. May be required to perform tasks of other unlicensed trades such as a light equipment operator carpenter pool operations fitness equipment repair painter and/or locksmith.
Qualified candidates:
- Must possess basic mechanical electrical and plumbing aptitude
- Must possess basic maintenance painting and carpentry skills
- Ability to negotiate and collaborate with contractors and vendors
- Must have prior responsibility of maintaining employee schedules and inventories
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use ladders
- Must have a valid drivers license and meet insurance requirements
- Must be able to work nights and weekends and be available oncall
- Have the ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Have the ability to stand lift and bend for up to 8 hours in hot/cold and wet environments
- Must promote safety and be efficient in work practices
Must have the ability to communicate with coworkers and management in a professional manner and provide exceptional customer service to our members and guests as needed.
