GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Campus Safety department helps to provide safe and secure environments for students faculty staff and visitors at all three campuses. As a Technician III your duties include: patrol of the campus and its buildings: assisting the campus community with a wide variety of problems and concerns; monitoring security cameras and access control systems; providing and restricting access to areas on campus including buildings and rooms; acting as first responders to medical needs campus emergencies and disruptions; implementing crowd and traffic control when needed; maintaining a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality whenever possible.

Three years of work experience in security campus safety emergency preparedness law enforcement military or other first responder experience.

SUBSTITUTION: College university attendance from an accredited institution may substitute for the experience in a related field (i.e. law enforcement firefighter E.M.T. Emergency Preparedness) as listed above on a year for year basis. (A COPY OF YOUR TRANSCRIPT VERIFYING THE REQUIRED CREDITS/COURSES MUST BE RECEIVED BY APPLICATION DEADLINE IF SUBSTITUTION IS USED TO MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS)
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
Customer Service: Complete walking tours/patrols of campus areas frequently during each shift; engage with students faculty and staff to create relationships and trust.
Public Safety and Security: Maintain indepth knowledge and highlevel proficiency with operating the campus security cameras access control mechanisms emergency notification tools and safety/lifesaving devices (i.e. AEDs fire extinguishers etc.
Critical Thinking: Immediately issue Timely Warnings and Emergency Notifications during emergencies as appropriate.
Justice Equity Diversity Inclusion: Conduct initial inquiries security inspections and preliminary investigations of security matters and concerns on campus.
Active Listening: Identify incidents involving harassment and sexual misconduct; document and report these instances to the Title IX Office.
Dependability: Conduct security patrols of campus and all College buildings and facilities on foot or by other means (i.e. golf cart car bicycle etc. and provide other security duties as assigned.
Integrity: Maintain the campus official Lost and Found section; take in items that are turned in and whenever possible return items to their rightful owners; dispose of items when the rightful owners are unavailable.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Must possess and maintain a current valid State of Colorado Drivers License. Must submit to and successfully complete a preemployment background check to include a motor vehicle record (MVR) as a condition of hire. Must submit to and successfully complete a preemployment background check as a condition of hire. Felony convictions or conviction of crimes of moral turpitude or convictions of misdemeanors related to job duties may disqualify you from consideration for this position. Should your background check reveal any charges and convictions it is your responsibility to provide FRCC Office of Human Resources with an official disposition of the charges. Must be 21 years of age.

FOR CURRENT OR FORMER STATE CLASSIFIED EMPLOYEES OF THE STATE OF COLORADO:
Per the requirements of the Step Pay Program implemented on July 1 2024 any State employee must be paid a rate that is equal to or greater than the appropriate step pay rate within their classifications pay range based on completed years in their current class series as of June 30. All current and former State employees must ensure that your entire work history within the State Classified System including at Institutions of Higher Education is indicated in your application so that your timeinseries can be calculated accurately.

Candidate will be required to take and pass the FRCC Self Defense Training once employed. Once the candidate (s) has passed the FRCC Self Defense Training they will then proceed with training to be certified in Baton emergency system software and other designated areas. Candidate will need to keep current on all training and certifications required by the college during the entire time of employment.
