stitutions is recruiting for a Criminal Justice Technician 1/2 for the Wildwood Correctional Complex (WCC) located in Kenai Alaska.

What you will be doing:

Wildwood Correctional Complex (WCC) is looking for applicants who are inspired to instill positive change in others and their community while consistently maintaining public safety. Wildwood Correctional Complex Criminal Justice Technicians (CJT) perform duties such as filing of court paperwork booking records entering sentencing and case information into ACOMS (Alaska Corrections Offender Management System) and arranging offender travel for furlough and release. As a member of a cohesive team CJTs will provide direct support the probation team as they supervise the offenders who are under the jurisdiction of the Superior court or District Courts of Alaska and have been remanded to the custody and care of the Department of Corrections.

Wildwood Correctional Complex is located in Kenai just north of Soldotna and the worldfamous Kenai River offering fantastic outdoor activities and much much more. This CJT position will work in a team environment in one of the three buildings located on the grounds of the Wildwood Correctional Complex under the direct supervision of the Probation Officer 3.

Criminal Justice Technician 2
Successful completion of training under a formally established Criminal Justice Technician 12 flexible staffing training plan with the State of Alaska.
OR
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:
  • Integrity/Honesty: Contributes to maintaining the integrity of the organization; displays high standards of ethical conduct and understands the impact of violating these standards on an organization self and others; is trustworthy.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers software applications databases and automated systems to accomplish work.

PREA NOTIFICATION
The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including but not limited to Prison Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. PREA standards preclude the department from hiring or promoting anyone who has engaged in or been convicted of any conduct which would violate PREA standards related to sexual including:
  • Sexual abuse in a prison jail lockup community confinement facility juvenile facility or other institution;
  • Convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force overt or implied threats of force or coercion or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or
  • Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.
FLEXIBLY STAFFED

This position is flexibly staffed. The level of the job offer will be based on the selected candidates eligibility. If hired at the lower level you will be promoted to the higherlevel job class after completing the training plan and meeting the minimum qualifications.


EDUCATION

If postsecondary education is required to meet the minimum qualifications you must fill in the Education section of the application. If you have not obtained a degree please indicate the number of units completed. Copies of transcripts are required to verify educational credentials if used to meet the minimum qualifications for a position. Transcripts can be attached at the time of application or provided at the time of interview at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the minimum qualifications listed above. CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS

Please be aware this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS). A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS. DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has beenconvicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction or who may be a fugitive from justice. Additionally security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
