You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe child life specialist orients patients families students children of adult patients and staff to the environment and the Child Life Program. The specialist assesses patients and families with the goal of planning support. Child life interventions are done to facilitate coping and mastery of healthcare experiences and to foster a positive selfimage through developmentally appropriate activities. The specialist serves as a resource to the healthcare team on child development and behavior issues.
Bachelors degree in Child Life Child Development Child and Family Studies Therapeutic Recreation or related field. Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) credentialed from the Child Life Certifying Commission or granted acceptance to take next scheduled exam and attains certification within first year of employment. One 1 year Child Life Program experience in an acute hospital or outpatient pediatric setting required. Demonstrated maturity patience sensitivity understanding enthusiasm and the capacity to relate effectively to children parents volunteers and staff. Demonstrated sound judgment initiative and a thorough understanding of child development. Preferred bilingual English Spanish skills. Basic Life Support Certification is required upon hire and must be valid for 90 days or greater from start date. Maintains Basic Life Support (BLS) Competency.
2 years experience within the role of Child Life Specialist experience preferred.
