Job Description

Overview:


Schedule: Day Shift MonFri.

This position works with the Ketogenic Dietary Therapy Program & Movement Disorders patients.

Keto Clinic:

The dietary therapy program provides medical treatment for children with difficult to control epilepsy. This therapy requires multiple clinic visits regular communication with families fine tuning the diet to the individual child & vitamin/mineral supplementation.

Movement Disorders:

Patients are children with movement disorders associated with cerebral palsy Tourette syndrome & rare neurogenetic conditions. The nurse will be a member of an interdisciplinary team collaborating with a movement disorders neurologist & other providers to coordinate care in varied clinical settings.

3 years of nursing experience is requiredpediatric is preferred.


Job Description Summary:


Provides nursing care and care coordination services for pediatric patients and their families. Fosters effective communication among health care professionals who provide nursing care to children with altered health states. Develops and implements educational programs for patients parents and families hospital staff and community health personnel. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:

  • Provides nursing care using a Family Centered approach.
  • Collaborates with primary care physicians specialty physicians and other service providers to identify patients in need of care coordination. Works closely with families to guide them through the health care system to optimize the care and services they receive to improve child health decrease costs and improve satisfaction with care.
  • Administers treatments in a manner that improves clinical outcomes and reduces risk or cost. Ensures delivery of preventive services health promotion activities and other interventions that proactively address potential risks. Aware of evidence based standards and applicable national standards.
  • Participates in policy and procedure development continuing education continuous quality improvement research and/or evidenced based practice.
  • Engages in the workplace community by staying aware of changes participating in data collection or auditing understanding Quality Improvement and representing staff at relevant meetings


Education Requirement:

BSN required.


Licensure Requirement:

  • Licensed as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio.
  • Valid Ohio drivers license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection insurance eligibility driving qualifications and training set forth by Nationwide Childrens Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.
