Pay Range: $45556.80 $76166.40
Note: Location pay differentials available for medium 5 and maximum 10 security prisons.
Location: Various locations across the state.

The ADOC Canine Division is currently seeking applicants for Corrections Canine Assistant Handler. These positions are located throughout the state and provide a competitive salary range for qualified applicants.
The Corrections Canine Assistant Handler is a fulltime position within the Canine Division of the Alabama Department of Corrections. This position consists of specialized work assisting in the training caring for and handling of dogs used to track and apprehend escaped prisoners or detect . Applicants must apply directly to the State Personnel Department and meet the requirements below:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Eighteen 18 months of experience as a police officer or correctional officer in a law enforcement regulatory or correctional setting.
- Incumbents must be certified by the Alabama Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) in order to obtain permanent status in this classification.
