2024 Massachusetts Broadcasters Association Station of the Year Merit Western Mass News is a licensed television station in Springfield Massachusetts and serves the Pioneer Valley. The networks of Western Mass News include ABC 40 Fox 6 and CBS 3. Our three major networks and digital platform speak daily to over half of Western Mass and the area businesses. We have Western Masss most live programming including all the major live sporting events.
Job Summary/Description:
The News Producer crafts compelling newscasts and executes them from the control room on a daily basis. This person develops the daytoday onair look of their newscast and works together as a team with Anchors Reporters and other crew members to help attract the largest available audience.
Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Produce a daily newscast
Conceptualize a newscast rundown
Collaborate with Executive Producer field crews and assignment desk to determine content of newscast
Write scripts
Research stories
Pitch story ideas
Participate in editorial meetings
Preview material before air
Work with reporters and directors on innovative production elements
Incorporate and coordinate breaking news
Work to constantly improve and evolve the look and of newscasts
Execute the show from the control room
Meet all show timing requirements
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism Communications or a related field or equivalent training and/or experience
Knowledge of TV News producing tools a plus (i.e. ENPS Edius)
Ability to work a flexible schedule and work as a member of a team
Must be resultsoriented
Ability to work in a creative fastpaced environment
Ability to make quick decisions without losing composure
