Overview
The ICU Head MD DNB in Anaesthesia plays a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of patient care in the Intensive Care Unit of our hospital located in Rajaji Nagar Bangalore. This senior position requires a blend of clinical expertise in anaesthesia and leadership skills to manage a diverse medical team and ensure effective service delivery in a highpressure environment. The incumbent will oversee patient management protocols optimize anaesthesia services and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes. In addition to clinical duties the ICU Head will engage in teaching mentoring and quality assurance activities thus contributing to the continuous education of staff and the improvement of clinical practices within the department. This role is critical in guiding the direction of the anaesthesia services in the ICU and plays a significant part in the organizations commitment to providing worldclass healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily operations of the ICU ensuring patient safety and quality of care.
- Manage patient anaesthesia protocols monitoring and adjusting as necessary.
- Lead a team of anaesthetists nurses and health professionals.
- Develop and implement clinical policies and guidelines for anaesthesia practice.
- Conduct regular audits of anaesthesia services for quality assurance.
- Participate in the training and education of clinical staff and medical students.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the ICU.
- Collaborate with surgical teams to discuss preoperative and postoperative anaesthesia care.
- Handle emergency cases requiring immediate anaesthesia interventions.
- Maintain accurate patient records ensuring confidentiality and data integrity.
- Conduct research and contribute to clinical studies within anaesthesia.
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to strategic planning.
- Provide expert consultation regarding complex anaesthetic cases.
- Evaluate and address any incidents or complications related to anaesthesia care.
- Foster a collaborative environment to enhance interdepartmental communication.
Required Qualifications
- MD in Anaesthesia or equivalent DNB qualification.
- Valid medical license to practice in India.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in anaesthesia with a focus on critical care.
- Proven leadership experience in a clinical setting.
- Fellowship or certification in a subspeciality such as critical care would be an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of current anaesthesia techniques and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in medical education and mentoring of junior staff.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage emergencies effectively.
- Proficient in the use of ICU medical equipment and technology.
