Job Description

Internal Job Title: Software Architect
Job Type: Permanent FullTime
Job Location: Ottawa ON
Work Model: Hybrid

 

Position Summary

We are seeking a Software Architect to define the technical vision architectural strategy and best practices for software development projects in our Product Development group. This role requires a deep understanding of software engineering principles cloud computing security and scalability. You will work closely with development teams to design robust and futureproof software architectures.

 

Responsibilities

Architectural Strategy & Technical Leadership

  • Define and implement software architecture strategies for scalable and secure applications.
  • Develop highlevel system designs including API strategies data flows and cloud deployments.
  • Ensure software solutions align with business objectives and technology roadmaps.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations for adoption.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work with engineering teams to establish architectural best practices and coding standards.
  • Collaborate with product managers and business stakeholders to define technical requirements.
  • Present architectural decisions to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Performance Security & Compliance

  • Define security protocols and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimizations to ensure system reliability.
  • Design disaster recovery and faulttolerant architectures.

Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing

  • Guide software engineers on best practices and architectural decisions.
  • Conduct training sessions and technical workshops for developers.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation.

 


Qualifications :

Education & Certifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Software Engineering or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solutions Architect Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect) are highly preferred.

Technical Concepts & Methodologies

  • Enterprise software architecture and cloud computing.
  • Distributed systems and service (microservices) architecture.
  • Security best practices (encryption authentication OAuth JWT).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) techniques
  • DevOps and CI/CD best practices.

Soft Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and decisionmaking skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Excellent problemsolving and criticalthinking abilities.
  • Strategic mindset with a focus on longterm solutions.

Experience

  • 8 years of experience in software development
  • 2 years of experience architecting cloud solutions
  • Experience with event driven architectures domain decomposition in service architecture

Technical Environment

  • Cloud Platforms: Azure AWS
  • Programming Languages: Java Python C# JavaScript.
  • Architecture Patterns: Microservices EventDriven Serverless.
  • Security Standards: OWASP ISO 27001 SOC 2.
  • IaC/DevOps Tools: Docker Kubernetes Terraform Jenkins.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Language: Fluency in English
  • Travel: Ability to travel domestically/internationally as required
