Wilkes University invites applicants for a visiting Assistant Professor position in the Department of Psychology to begin August 2025. Position is a oneyear term but is renewable. Preference will be given to individuals with experience in the area of clinical/counseling psychology. The successful candidate will be expected to teach courses in their specialty area (e.g. Psychopathology Clinical Methods Individual/Group Counseling) as well as general areas of need for the department (e.g. Senior Capstone). The teaching load will be 24 credits over two semesters 44 load).
The Department of Psychology consists of sixfulltime faculty who are student and teaching focused. We seek a candidate who demonstrates a commitment to undergraduate teaching and can provide evidence of teaching effectiveness. The new faculty member will also be expected to be an active member of the department including advising undergraduate students and participating in student and service activities. Preference will be given to candidates who embrace the Universitys culture of developing mentoring relationships. A Ph.D. in psychology at the time of appointment is preferred. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Psychology is the largest major within the College of Arts and Sciences and is one of the most popular majors at Wilkes University. We also have a very active Psychology Club and chapter of Psi Chi. We are looking for a candidate who can contribute to our mentoring and student focused approach. The existing faculty engage in oneonone mentoring with students on research and career development. We are seeking a candidate who can help to mentor our students in the area of clinical and counseling psychology.
