Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible to review and analyze the existing network architecture and provide designs of current/modern WAN/MAN/LAN technologies.
- Recommend best practices such as SDN Intentbased networking and network segmentation protocols etc. in order to improve the existing architecture and meet new networking requirements
- Design telecommunications circuit specifications
- Identify the need for routers switches and encryption devices to support enterprise services
- Deliver service catalog items for automatically provisioning network configurations to deliver Infrastructureas Code
- Develop and maintain network architecture specifications and artifacts
- Designs and plans network communications systems.
- Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.
- Conducts cost/benefit analysis and provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs including present and future capacity requirements.
- Conducts testing of network design.
- Responsible for monitoring network hardware operations to ensure properly set configuration options.
- Plans implementation of enhancements and upgrades to the network.
- Advises network users of hardware requirements configurations and limitations.
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing such as routers multiplexers firewalls hubs bridges gateways etc.
- Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Work Environment:
- Location: Annapolis Junction MD Onsite
- Travel Requirements: Minimal 020 Travel
- Working Hours: Standard 40 hour per week
Qualifications :
Required:
- Clearance: Top Secret with SCI
- Requires 5 to 8 years with BS/BA or 3 to 5 years with MS/MA or 0 to 2 years with PhD.
- 2 years of Cisco experience; proven expertise with Cisco network hardware including: routers switches firewalls unified communications equipment
- Proven experience in VMware environments
- Proven experience in virtual and physical Internet Protocol and Fiber Channel networks and routing protocols
- Proven experience designing optimizing and troubleshooting LAN WAN and low bandwidth networks protected by network encryptors
- Proficiency in Automation Tools (e.g. Ansible Python or similar)
- Expertise in SoftwareDefined Networking (SDN)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) (e.g. Terraform CloudFormation)
- Familiarity with Agile Methodologies for iterative network project management
- Experience with Change Management Processes to ensure smooth network updates and configurations
- Knowledge of DISN (Department of Defense Information Network) or CANES (Consolidated Afloat Networks and Enterprise Services) systems
- Proficiency in Visio or Similar Diagramming Tools for network design documentation
- Information Assurance Certifications consistent with the 8570 IAT Level III
Desired:
- Professional certification in Cisco VMware and/or ITIL is desired
Basic Compensation:
$110000 to $180000
This range is for the Maryland area only
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidates knowledge skills abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
KBR may offer bonuses commissions or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of a sign on bonus relocation benefits short term incentives long term incentives or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
