Job Description
Genesee Country Village & Museum is the largest and most comprehensive living history museum in New York State and the third largest in America. Through interactive programs events and exhibits we help visitors understand the lives and times of 19thcentury America. Our 600acre complex consists of 68 historic structures furnished with 15000 artifacts to provide an authentic 19thcentury environment in which visitors interact with historic interpreters in periodappropriate dress. Our John L. Wehle Art Gallery has long been regarded as one of the nations premiere galleries of wildlife and sporting art. We are also home to the Genesee Country Nature Center providing learning opportunities relating to environmental stewardship and the ecological history of the area.
The Special Events Associate will assist Genesee Country Village & Museum with a variety of projects related to our onsite special events including:
- Assist with general tasks such as data entry; mailings; recruiting and managing vendors performers and participants; and research into potential partner organizations.
- Prepare and stage event materials such as signs audio visual equipment decorations props and games and general setup.
- Research and order event supplies as needed.
- Help design interactive guestfriendly and museumrelated experiences for upcoming events.
- Staff events to assist with tasks such as greeting and orienting vendors and /or participants; providing general staff vendor and volunteer support; and helping with visitor relations.
- This position will require extensive interaction with a variety of Museum employees and potentially volunteers and donors as well.
- Background experience in customer service/hospitality organization and logistics
- Interest in event production hospitality marketing or other related fields
- Ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Able to provide own transportation to/from Mumford NY
- Must be available to work weekend
