Olympic College is recruiting for a Maintenance Mechanic 2. Positions at this level perform a variety of skilled work in the operation maintenance repair remodeling and construction of buildings grounds machinery mechanical facilities and equipment and systems and equipment. Incumbents work independently and utilize a general knowledge of several related skill fields such as plumbing electrical welding carpentry and machinist work. This support OC missions by ensuring a safe and comfortable working environment for employees students and public.

Essential Functions

  • Independently conduct comprehensive maintenance operation and repair of electrical mechanical and structural systems within buildings and utility distribution networks.
  • Perform skilled inspections and repairs on building light fixtures electrical systems and mechanical equipment identifying and addressing both minor and extensive repair needs.
  • Oversee the inspection and maintenance of campus restrooms ensuring all plumbing fixtures and systems are functioning optimally and performing necessary repairs.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and repairs of building exteriors including roofs lighting and structural elements addressing any significant wear and tear independently.
  • Utilize advanced hand tools power tools and specialized shop equipment to perform skilled repairs and modifications to various building systems and equipment.
  • Install maintain and repair complex electrical connections switches circuits and HVAC components ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor and adjust building controls to ensure all systems are operating within normal parameters making skilled repairs as needed and advising on system improvements.
  • Perform advanced maintenance tasks such as changing oil greasing and replacing or repairing filters drive belts sprockets shafts and bearings to optimize equipment performance.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and maintenance of campus vehicles including battery checks tire pressure adjustments and performing skilled repairs on engines and electrical systems.
  • Execute skilled maintenance and repair tasks on shop equipment and campus vehicles including lubrication flat repairs light replacements and fan belt changes.
  • Operate a variety of specialized hand tools power tools and shop equipment to conduct skilled repairs and adjustments to mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Check the normal operation of building fixtures for wear and tear.
  • Inspect and install parts when necessary.
  • Prepare and clean surfaces using sandpaper burners sers sand machines dusters power washers power sanders and paint removers to ensure proper paint adhesion.
  • Conduct repairs by using plaster sheetrock metal wood and masonry surfaces by filling them with putty caulks fiberglass resin etc.
  • Apply paint to equipment and exterior and interior surfaces of buildings and other structures using a brush roller or spray equipment.
  • Clean brushes containers spray guns and other equipment by using water or appropriate chemical solutions.
  • Interpret and execute work orders for furniture and equipment relocation coordinating with surplus if needed.
  • Move furniture and/or equipment using appropriate moving devices and techniques ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
  • Operate fleet vehicles to transport furniture and equipment across campus coordinating with supervisors for additional support as needed.
  • Monitor safety fire protection and environmental control equipment to ensure building systems and equipment are operating in satisfactory condition. Report any issues to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
  • Remove ice and snow from all campuses and buildings to ensure walkways and parking lots are safe by using shovels ice melt and other equipment.
  • Attend and contribute to departmental meetings and training sessions sharing expertise and learning new skills to enhance job performance.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance construction or repair work.
  • Valid motor vehicle operating license
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
  • High school graduation and four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance construction or repair work or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade.

Please note that we are unable to sponsor visas for this position. Only candidates who are currently authorized to work in the United States will be considered.

This is a fulltime classified position scheduled to work 40 hours a week with a salary range of$56880 $66012 annually.All classified positions will start their salary at Step A when you have completed six months of probation you will receive a 5 percent pay increase. A collective bargaining agreement exists and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Associate (WPEA) Union. Classified positions qualify for the following benefits:
