Job Description

It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peertopeer payments Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem developing unique financial products including Afterpay/Clearpay to provide a better way to send spend invest borrow and save to our 50 million monthly active customers. The Team

The Identity Lifecycle team designs and builds scalable solutions to manage customer identity information. We focus on supporting our customers beyond the initial onboarding stage.

The Role

Due to working with our teams in Australia we prefer this person to be in Pacific Time Zone (North America). As an Engineering Manager you will be responsible for technical architecture ensuring collaboration across a multitude of disciplines and providing coaching and mentorship to your team and peers. You will drive the teams vision and roadmap alongside product management designers and the Cash App leadership team.

You Will

  • Lead and participate in critical technical design strategy and product discussions with leaders across the organization and company
  • Work with crossfunctional partners to build impactful products and platform features
  • Build a worldclass team by hiring exceptional talent coaching and developing engineers cultivating pragmatic engineering decisionmaking and leveraging your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar
  • Define your teams vision and roadmap by thoroughly understanding your customers needs
  • Creatively solve challenging technical problems at scale
  • Foster ownership inclusiveness accountability pragmatism and urgency in the team
  • Do whatever needs to get done to help your team execute. This could mean writing code planning a team offsite or covering an oncall shift.

You Have

  • 8 years working on complex systems and delivering quality software
  • 2 years experience directly managing engineers (including providing mentorship feedback and investing in the career growth of your team members)
  • Welldeveloped curiosity and enjoy building creative solutions to complex problems
  • Previous success prioritizing urgency excellence and delivery in a fastpaced and highgrowth environment
  • A history of healthy collaboration with product managers engineers and other engineering managers on developing roadmaps and executing against them
  • Strong sense of ownership accountability and autonomy
  • Strong communication skills
