About the Foundation

MatSu Health Foundation (MSHF) is the official business name of Valley Hospital Association Inc. which owns MatSu Regional Medical Center (MSRMC) in joint venture with Community Health Systems Inc. (CHS). In this capacity MSHF board members and representatives actively participate in the governance of MatSus community hospital to protect the communitys interest in this important healthcare institution.
Apart from its role as a community hospital coowner MSHF is also a grantmaking philanthropy organization. Grounded in organizational values of prevention access wellness fairness equity and collaboration the MSHF mission is to improve the health and wellness of Alaskans living in the MatSu. Through grantmaking convening of local partners and policy change the Foundations work has resulted in significant improvements in systems that support the health of MatSu residents in areas such as behavioral health child welfare crisis response community connections workforce development transportation housing and senior services.

Position Summary
The Chief Community Impact Officer (CCIO) is a missioncritical executive role responsible for translating the Foundations bold vision for health equity into measurable community outcomes across the MatSu. Reporting to the President/CEO the CCIO oversees all philanthropic and programmatic strategy leads highperforming teams including Connect MatSu and R.O.C.K. MatSu and aligns crosssector initiatives with MSHFs epidemiological datainformed approach. This leader will partner closely with local stakeholders drive systems change and represent the Foundation at the board community and national levels. Ideal candidates will bring deep expertise in public health philanthropy and communityrooted leadership along with a passion for equity local impact and placebased innovation in Alaska.

Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
  • Lead the of MSHFs longterm vision by aligning philanthropic investments programs and initiatives with the Foundations strategic plan and Theory of Change.
  • Serve as a senior advisor to the President/CEO and a core member of the Executive Leadership Team fostering a culture of strategic clarity adaptability and community accountability.
  • Integrate organizational learning public health data and community input to drive continuous improvement and populationlevel impact.
  • Ensure programmatic and philanthropic synergy with the Foundations role as coowner of MatSu Regional Medical Center aligning with compliance requirements under the Affordable Care Act.
Stakeholder & Community Engagement
  • Cultivate deep trustbased relationships with local leaders nonprofit partners tribal entities and crosssector collaborators to catalyze systemslevel change.
  • Act as a visible and authentic ambassador of MSHF in the MatSu Valley and across Alaska maintaining a strong community presence and listeningfirst approach.
  • Collaborate with the President/CEO and Chief Communications Officer to translate complex community health outcomes into accessible valuesdriven messaging that reflects lived realities.
  • Represent MSHF in local state and national forums conferences and advocacy spacesbringing community voice into larger public health equity and philanthropic conversations.
Program Oversight & Team Management
  • Lead a highperforming team that includes the Directors of Community Partnerships Connect MatSu R.O.C.K. MatSu Data & Impact and Senior Program Officers for grantmaking and scholarships.
  • Oversee and monitor a $30M programmatic budget including stewardship of transformational gifts and $4M in scholarships.
  • Facilitate alignment and collaboration across program areas to drive shared success strategic cohesion and longterm sustainability.
  • Establish effective policies workflows and capacitybuilding strategies to support innovation and missionaligned growth.
Governance & Board Engagement
  • Serve as staff liaison to the Program Committee and Health Equity Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Prepare strategic updates and analysis that support clear informed governance decisions.
  • Ensure timely transparent and datainformed communication between programmatic efforts and the Board.
  • Support the Boards role in guiding equity strategy community investment and overall mission .
Equity Culture & Impact Measurement
  • Champion health equity as a core operational and strategic value ensuring it is embedded across all programs policies and funding approaches.
  • Colead internal DEI strategy in collaboration with the COO while mentoring staff in inclusive leadership and culturally responsive practice.
  • Oversee the development and application of impact measurement tools in partnership with the Director of Data & Impact leveraging qualitative and quantitative insights to inform decisionmaking.
  • Foster a culture of belonging reflection and equitycentered learning across the organization and within the communities served.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in philanthropy health systems or the nonprofit sector with a demonstrated ability to lead complex programs and center community needs in strategy design and .
  • Proven experience managing and developing highperforming teams overseeing largescale budgets and guiding crossfunctional work aligned to organizational vision and values.
  • Deep understanding of public health principles systems change and upstream interventions with a strong commitment to epidemiological and datainformed approaches.
  • Demonstrated success working with or as a grantee with lived or professional experience navigating funding landscapes and applying for institutional support.
  • Ability to center grantees and community voice in decisionmaking strategy and measurement of impact.
  • Effective at building and sustaining trustbased partnerships across sectorsgovernment tribal nonprofit and healthcareand adept at translating between institutional and grassroots perspectives.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and coalitions on complex health and social issues; knowledge of the MatSu region and Alaska context strongly preferred.
  • Strong strategic political and programmatic thinking with the ability to synthesize information simplify complexity and act decisively on communityinformed insight.
  • Skilled in analyzing and interpreting organizational budgets financial reports and funding portfolios; familiarity with stewarding largescale philanthropic investments is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Boards of Directors or governance bodies to inform policy investment strategy and organizational direction.
  • A proven record of fostering inclusive equitycentered practices and organizational culture including facilitation of internal DEI initiatives and community advocacy work.
  • Expertise in collective impact models and/or crosssector alignment strategies preferred.
  • Masters degree in public health public administration social work or a related field preferredor equivalent seniorlevel leadership experience in related fields.

Work environment: Employee will be working in a typical office environment with offices moderate temperature and equipment noise.

Physical demands: Employee will be spending considerable time at a desk using a computer terminal and traveling to various locations in the community.
