The Opportunity: The Downers Grove Park District Museum is looking for a Museum Program Assistant to develop implement and lead a variety of activities that delve into history. Encourage exploration and help reveal what life was like in the 1800s and 1900s right here in Downers Grove!
Pay: $16 per hour
Essential Functions:
- Cultivate prepare and teach activities such as educational programs parties and tours
- Assist the Museum Curator with exhibit development and maintenance
- Support the Museum Reception Desk serving as an ambassador of the facility as needed
- Maintain accurate records and alert Museum Staff to any issues or concerns
- Maintain courteous and effective communication between staff participants and/or parents
- Follow and implement Downers Grove Park District policies and guidelines including safety practices
- Performs all other duties and responsibilities not covered above but directed by Downers Grove Museum Supervisor
- Attend staff meetings trainings and special events
- Two years of coursework in history anthropology museum studies education or a related field required
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Education and programming experience preferred
- Must be organized and efficient at planning and project management
- Must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Must have a valid Illinois Drivers license.(May need to drive on occasion for Museum programs and events.
- CPR First Aid and AED certification or a willingness to obtain certification within 30 days of employment. The Park District provides training.
