Job Description
The Drr Group is one of the worlds leading mechanical and plant engineering firms. Products systems and services offered by Drr enable highly efficient manufacturing processes in different industries. Business with automobile manufacturers and their suppliers accounts for approximately 60 of Drrs sales. Other market segments include for example the mechanical engineering chemical and pharmaceutical industries and the woodworking industry. The Drr Group operates in the market with five divisions:
- Paint and Final Assembly Systems: paint shops and final assembly systems for the automotive industry
- Application Technology: robot technologies for the automatic application of paint as well as sealants and adhesives Measuring and Process Systems: balancing and cleaning systems as well as testing and filling technology
- Clean Technology Systems: exhaustair purification systems and energyefficiency technology
- Woodworking Machinery and Systems: machinery for the woodworking
We are a growing organization with an opportunity for an Installation Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience in the installation of various types of automotive paint shop equipment and systems
Location: Southfield MI
Position Summary: Oversee and participate in site activity with the goal of successfully installing and commissioning Drr automated paint shop equipment and systems.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Installation of various types of automotive paint shop equipment and systems: paint and sealer robots materials supply systems (booths conveyors etc)
- Directing skilled trade contactors as required
- Liaising between the customer contractors and Drr staff
- Overseeing and report on the daily activity of a given project
- Advising department managers of site requirements regarding personnel
- Overseeing and orchestrating the activity of the contractor individuals assigned to their specific site and tracking contractor hours.
- Ensuring the site is adequately staffed to meet project schedule milestones
- Commission and document all automation equipment as required
- When required provide customer training on installed equipment
- Repair malfunctioning automation equipment
- Conduct equipment startup and debug for Drr and nonDrr products
- Assist with the debugging of controls hardware and software
- Record baseline data for areas of responsibility
- Mark up drawing changes
- Work as part of a team on major projects or individually on smaller projects
- Travel approximately 95
Nonessential Functions
- Other assigned duties as required
Qualifications
- Associate degree (Electrical or Mechanical) preferred
- Two or more years of position related preferred; formal education considered in lieu of experience
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
- Able to communicate well with customers and colleagues
- Strong electrical background preferred
- Familiarity with pneumatic circuitry
- Familiarity with the design and installation of paint circulation systems
- Familiarity with the design and installation of sealer systems
- Familiarity with structural support requirements
- Familiarity with the user of a theodolite for robot leveraging is a plus
- Able to read and interpret AutoCAD drawings/Eplan
- Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word Excel and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of SAP is a plus
- Good time management skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good verbal communication skills
- Good technical writing skills
Physical Demands: While performing duties of job incumbent is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit kneel crawl; and use hands and arms. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and distance vision. Employee must be able to fly and drive. Employee must be able to climb stairs and ladders wearing appropriate fall protection as needed. Incumbent is required to work with and near equipment such as industrial fans pumps etc. in a manufacturing setting. They must also be able to operate motorized equipment such as a scissor lift or man lift.
