Job Overview

The Sunnybrook Research Institutes Harquail Centre for Neuromodulation affiliated with the University of Toronto is seeking a highly motivated handson Research TMS technician to join the Interventional Psychiatry Lab led by Dr. Sean Nestor. This role focuses on research in neuromodulation therapies for treatmentresistant psychiatric disorders. The successful candidate will administrate a repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in multiple interventional clinical trials as well as contribute to the design coordination and of the clinical studies within a collaborative fastpaced and researchintensive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administrate repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) and conduct psychiatric clinical and functional measures in populations with depression and postconcussion syndrome as part of clinical trial protocols involving MRI
  • Report events (e.g. side effects adverse events) related to the TMS treatment
  • Coordinate a clinical trial investigating the effects of psilocybin on depression
  • Assist with all phases of clinical research: recruitment consent data collection data management
  • Conduct or support EEG and continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) sessions
  • Write and maintain REBs amendments and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Prepare figures materials and writeups for presentations publications and grant proposals
  • Collaborate across disciplines while also managing daytoday lab operations independently

Qualifications

  • Honours Bachelors degree in psychology neuroscience or related field (required)
    • Masterslevel thinking and communication strongly preferred
  • Minimum 1 year experience in clinical research or psychiatry/psychology studies
  • Comfortable juggling multiple tasks and projects in a regulated research environment
  • Experience with:
    • Participant interaction and recruitment
    • Standardized interviews or study questionnaires
    • Data extraction from medical records
    • Ethics board applications and compliance
    • Strong academic writing skills
  • Proficiency in:
    • Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint
    • REDCap (preferred)
    • Statistical and/or data visualization software (asset)
  • Certifications:
    • Canada GCP Health Canada Division 5 TCPS2 CPR (or willingness to obtain)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in TMS administration for clinical populations
  • Experience in biostatistics research ethics and manuscript/grant writing
  • Interest or prior exposure to neuromodulation techniques especially rTMS; willingness to be trained in its clinical delivery
  • Previous work on clinical trials involving psychiatric interventions.
