Optician

At Mid America Eye Center we are a busy ophthalmology practice seeking an experienced Optician to join our dynamic team. This is a Monday Friday day shift position with No weekends and No holidays!

Some of the responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Adjust and repair glasses.
• Teach the insert and removal of contacts.
• Educate patients on differences in materials and progressive lens styles.
• Neutralize and transpose prescriptions
• Take accurate optical measurements.
• Discuss differences in contact lens brands and modalities.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Two years of experience as an optician in a busy practice is preferred

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Must have proficient computer skills
• Must be able to problemsolve
• Must be detailedoriented
• Must have a working knowledge of postoperative Medicare Medicare Replacement and Medicaid plans
• Must have excellent communication skills proper grammar and writing capability
• Must be teamoriented
• Must be selfdirected highly motivated able to multitask and work under pressure in a fastpaced environment
• Must be able to accurately and efficiently handle multiple projects at one time
• Must have exceptional interpersonal skills
• Must possess a caring patient and friendly attitude
• Must be familiar with all forms associated with the patients medical record (paper / electronic)
• Must be familiar with the use and operation of optical software
• Must be thoroughly knowledgeable with lenses frames and alloptical supplies
• Must have a complete understanding of optical inventory
• Must have outstanding sales ability
• Wideranging knowledge applicable to eye care and current trends in eyewear
• Must have experience in conflict resolution
