SOCW 3040 Social Work Field Practice.
Students apply ethics theory and research to social work practice while developing professional practice skills. Students integrate classroom learning with practical experience while working in partnership with clients community groups and other professions. The practicum is a structured educational experience that includes specific learning objectives and professional supervision provided in an evaluative disciplined and reflective manner. Through seminar discussions students analyze inequality injustice and oppression in practice. The practicum is normally completed three days a week and is accompanied by a seminar for a total of 300 hours including prepracticum orientation and practicum seminars. Doctoral degree with an MSW preferred MSW with specialized theoretical content knowledge will also be considered
Successful teaching experience in postsecondary institutions preferred
A minimum of five years of related practice experience and educational specialization for content specific courses
Demonstrated experience in integrating Indigenous knowledge and teaching methods (TRC CA 62
Proven skills in building student capacity for intercultural understanding empathy and mutual respect (TRC CA 63
Teaching excellence including developing culturally appropriate curricula (TRC CA 10
