Job Description
The Early Childhood Behavior Support Specialist is a nonclassified grantbased position funded by the West Virginia Department of Education and is housed at the West Virginia Autism Training Center at Marshall University. This position serves the Eastern Panhandle region of West Virginia and includes the following counties: Jefferson Berkeley Morgan Hampshire Mineral Grant. Hardy and Pendelton. The applicant is expected to live in or within 20 miles of the region. Duties: The Early Childhood Behavior Support Specialist will: Lead an interagency effort focused on the infrastructure development within West Virginias education system necessary for the effective implementation of a systemwide delivery of behavior and mental health intervention and supports. Provide school personnel training support. and coaching in topics related to a multitiered system of behavior and mental health support. Collaborate with WVDE to design coordinate and deliver professional development opportunities for teachers and administrators in the topics of early childhood positive behavior interventions and supports. schoolbased mental health. and classroom management procedures. Oversee the design and implementation of multitiered support plans with autism and other behavior or mental health challenges. Maintain collaborative relationships with schooland communitybased mental health providers to facilitate school based mental health services for students. Train support. and coach school personnel in the development and use of Functional Behavior Assessment and Behavior Support Plans. Provide support and coaching to regional teams on capturing tracking and interpreting fidelity and outcome data. Maintain records of all technical assistance provided. Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director Associate Director or Director of Technical Assistance.
