Job Description

Required Education: Bachelors degree AND:

  • 48 months of program development program management or related experience.

Equivalency/Substitution:Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelors degree for a total of 96 months of related experience

Skills:

  • Ability to manage project communications schedules and logistics
  • Ability to identify external funding sources prepare successful grant applications and assist with their management
  • Ability to coordinate details of events and workshops
  • Knowledge of trends and practices in topics related to urban design and policy
  • Knowledge of community engaged teaching and service practices for higher education
  • Familiarity with software hardware and other tools relevant to the field of urban design and policy
  • Ability to write and/or proofread technical and nontechnical documents

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Physical: Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • Environmental: Standard Office Environment. Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. May be required to travel. May require contact with other departments and university officials.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Education: Bachelors degree in one of the disciplines represented in the GCA or related field
  • Experience: Significant experience in architecture historic preservation landscape architecture regional and city planning urban design nonprofit management or related field
  • Possess a valid Driver License

Supervision: 15 GRAs

Support the management coordination and direction of community engagement at the GibbsCollege of Architecture in the Institute for Quality Communities including program development grant writing and management of internal and external partnerships.

About the Institute

The Institute for Quality Communities was established in 2008 by the University of Oklahoma to enhance the quality of communities throughout Oklahoma and around the world. The IQC collaborates with faculty and students across Gibbs Colleges Divisions of Architecture; Construction Science; Interior Design; and Planning Landscape Architecture and Design. As the Gibbs College community outreach arm the IQC is a leading source of community engagement placemaking and urban design expertise in the region. In addition to the work it performs in communities across the state the IQC hosts the nationally recognized biennial Placemaking Conference and its approximately 700 attendees on the Norman campus. The IQC has completed 112 projects while involving over 825 students by partnering with communities and nonprofit organizations across 60 counties and securing external funding to support our work.
