As a Payments Negotiation Attorney in the Payments Legal Team you will provide transactional and strategic legal support for client contract negotiations in wholesale payments. You will collaborate with us to enhance negotiation practices and implement technological solutions creating a bestinclass contracts negotiations legal practice. The Legal Department at JPMorgan Chase & Co. manages legal and other risks advises on products and services interprets laws and regulations that impact the firm and advises the firm on other matters. Job Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate a wide range of documentation for Wholesale Payments.
  • Advise businesses on transaction structures and legal and regulatory issues.
  • Coordinate with product counsel and other legal teams to maintain agreement templates negotiation playbooks and negotiation technology tools.
  • Ensure customerfacing documentation is clear and compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

Required Qualifications Capabilities and Skills:

  • Licensed attorney in Illinois or New York with at least five years of experience with a major law firm financial institution or judicial clerkship.
  • Proven and effective negotiation skills and ability to communicate with internal and external customers.
  • Understanding of banking laws including UCC Articles 4 and 4A.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications Capabilities and Skills:

  • Knowledge of wholesale payments products and services.
  • Experience working with merchant service processors/providers.
  • Experience with commercial card products.
  • Understanding of FinTech and thirdparty payment processors and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Familiarity with healthcare payments and HIPAA regulations.

All candidates for roles in the Legal department must be licensed to practice law in the country of employment and successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review prior to commencement of employment.
