Purpose:
To provide a description of the duties of the Quality Engineer.
Essential Functions:
- Incumbent will act as customer Quality Engineer as defined in ISO 9001 and report to the Quality Group Leader.
- Interface with sales and customer service representatives as well as with customers and plant operations and quality personnel.
- Become familiar with existing customers new customers sales the CMP process and their requirements.
- Understand the glass process and how it works in relation to potential quality concerns.
- Document individual customer complaints keep customer complaint log and maintain the credit system.
- Develop and implement corrective actions as appropriate based on Customer Complaints Credit Memos production line performance or other sources when appropriate.
- Visit customers quarterly and when is appropriate to assist in problem solving research complaints and proactive intervention. Document trip reports as appropriate.
- Perform the necessary duties to interact with all necessary parties to assure that continuous improvement is properly directed towards enhancing internal and external customer satisfaction.
- Assist in the development and determination of the proper inspection intervals and techniques to equally satisfy the needs of the plant and the customer as well as the development of the inhouse quality inspection process and direct the efforts of the hourly Quality Inspectors and their assessments.
- Responsible for leading the Plant in quality specifications and glass handling washing and cutting in order to provide assistance to the customer and/or obtain assistance from the technical group.
- Be part of CAPA system that is based on Customer Complaints and results from Quality Review Meetings maintain this process and follow up on open issues.
- Responsible for aged inventory and support MRB/GARF system in order to protect our customer from opportunities in production.
- Lead the internal audit system per ISO 9001.
- Ensure that new processes and/or upgrades of existing processes adhere to NSG and OSHA Standards for health and safety requirements.
- Keep abreast of industry changes and improvements by use of applicable periodicals reports and books.
- Take on additional projects and tasks which arise as needed by the Plant or as directed by the Quality Manager.
- Built relationships with hourly and salary teams.
- Maintains open communication with NSG sales group in order to keep updated on any issues affecting customers including potential credits.
- Works with the plant employees to help identify and communicate the needs of the plant and the customers and research customer issues address customer concerns
- and complete Corrective Actions.
- Shares information throughout the facility pertaining to customer feedback and interaction in an effort to continually improve the internal system and eliminate customer concerns.
- Acts as a resource to the quality and production departments on quality specifications quality testing methods etc.
- Supports plant inspectors to help training based on assessment and customer needs and expectations.
- The Quality Engineer will maintain contact with customers through communication such as visits and phone calls. The incumbent also will maintain some contact with sales marketing and technical support groups on field quality concerns and problems.
- Will be the plant point of contact for customer concerns and/or complaints.
- Maintains communications with Corporate Quality and other NSG facilities for bestpractices and latest technology in process and inspection equipment.
- Participates in seminars for professional development both within NSG and external sources.

Qualifications Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Equivalent Experience
- Excellent communication & human relation skills. Also welldeveloped interpersonal skills verbal and written communication skills and problemsolving skills. The ability to effectively interact with all levels.
- 35 years experience in a manufacturing facility
- Strong computer skills
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Systems.
- Experience dealing with customers; sales experience a plus.
- Must be analytical and detail oriented.
- Must be able to work independently and past experience should demonstrate achievements supporting a resultsoriented focus and use of leadership skills.
Qualifications Desired:
- 13 years glass manufacturing experience
- 12 years in a quality related field
- Certified ISO auditor.
- Selfmotivated individual
- Must be able to multitask and work well under pressure.
Salary Range $77472 $96846
