Job Description
Lifeguard (parttime)
Coe College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of parttime Lifeguard. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety promotion and engagement of openswim members day campers and swim lesson participants who are utilizing the space in and around the aquatic facility. This role involves monitoring and supervising all pool activities and responding quickly to emergencies.
While performing the duties of this job the employee may be required to work morning and evening shifts while expressing confidence to swim and navigate the pool and its surroundings. Employees may be asked to occasionally lift or assist in the situation of an emergency.
This is a parttime position with an hourly range of $12.50 $15.00 per hour based on qualifications and experience. Upon conditional offer of employment a successful completion of a background check will be required. Applications are currently available and will remain open through the entirety of the summer. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
- Morning afternoon evening and some weekend hours available.
- Occasional lifting or assisting of an individual of varying weights in the situation of an emergency.
- Ability to stay alert for long periods of time
- Ability to swim and navigate the pool and its surroundings.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Recognize and respond quickly and effectively in an emergency situation and activate the emergency response plan if necessary.
- Enforce policies and procedures for Coe College.
- Inspect the facility and report any unsafe conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
- Maintain lifeguarding skills and knowledge on an ongoing basis.
- Maintain current certifications including any additional safety training required by the Director of Aquatics.
Required/Preferred Qualifications:
- Ability to use independent judgement when needed.
- Possession of a valid Lifeguard/FirstAid/CPR/and AED certification.
- Previous Lifeguard experience is preferred but not required.
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States as visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States as we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
- Successful completion of a background check in accordance with Coe College policy.
