Adult Basic Education Instructor Youth and Adult

The Adult Basic Education instructor works with youth and adults to help students earn their high school diploma and assist them with achieving their life goals. ACYRs instructors use standardsbased and trauma informed instruction to guide students toward postsecondary education and career pathways.

Adult Basic Education instructors must be able to work with students both facetoface and virtually adapt classes to classroom/student needs and work as a team with other ACYR staff to benefit student outcomes.

The ACYR team builds pathways to success through education skill building and employment opportunities to help youth and young adult s reach selfsufficiency. The team plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of inclusion positivity growth mindset and hospitality by offering highenergy educational activities and services that create a welcoming environment. Every member of the team is charged to build trusting relationships with youth and adults to maintain continued support in pursing their educational and occupational goals. Our team is an integral resource connecting our community to broader institution of society and spreading/demonstrating the mission of ACYR .

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree (required)
• Experience teaching/working with youth and adult learners is a must.
• Knowledge of adult student characteristics and adult basic education content areas.
• Ability to instruct students in the use of basic technology and applications to integrate into instruction.
• Experience working with at opportunity youth and adults at a nonprofit organization in an educational setting or classroom preferred.
• Bilingual/Bicultural preferred.
• Strong communications skills are critical both verbally and in writing.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to commit to teamwork and establish effective working relationships.
• Demonstrate interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships.
• Willingness to consistently display a positive attitude and image of the agency as well as provide high quality effective customer service in all facets of communication.
• Must consistently engage in professional and personal development.

Key Result Areas

• Follow ACYR Adult Education procedures for attendance student enrollment assessments curriculum and classroom instruction and management.
• Provide effective classroom management and instruction.
• Develop community partnerships engagement and retention strategies to meet participants needs.
• Support the vision and direction of ACYRs Administration Team.

Background Check

Background check will consist of reference checks employment education and criminal background search.

ACYR is an atwill employer and any offer of employment with ACYR is contingent upon a successful completion of said background check.

Certification/Licenses/Other Requirements

Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Valid Arizona Drivers License. Requires use of insured personal vehicle for agency business.

Physical Demands

Requires energetic interactions between the ACYR team members and students. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately loudly or quickly. Ability to interact with students during activities also required.
