You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailRome Health is seeking an Infection Preventionist (IP) to evaluate quality of patient care and outcomes as they relate to Healthcareassociated infections to include daily collection of data preparing and analyzing and presenting of data to Rome Health colleagues. Monitoring of employee compliance for infection prevention practices preparing educational offerings to staff and serving as a resource to all departments and personnel. Duties will include:
Collect review analyze and interpret surveillance data and recommends appropriate actions to personnel and departments within the Health system to help reduce and prevent infection risks
Conduct investigations of suspected infectious outbreaks. Conducts activities related to exposure of patients and employees to communicable diseases. Assess all positive cultures and classifies hospital acquired versus community acquired through review of patients charts.
Develop review and evaluate Infection Prevention policies/procedures annually and when recommended guidance changes needs arise in the health system.
Function as an educational resource in all areas of Infection Prevention and control. Plan and help develop educational inservices as needed. Participate in hospital orientation educating staff on Infection Prevention and Control practices.
Consult with department and administrative staff on any infection prevention and control issues.
Initiate and participates in Quality improvement projects and partner with the Quality Department
Support the Infection Control Committee meetings in conjunction with the IPC Director
Inspect hospital construction projects for infection control issues during all stages of the projects.
Acts as a liaison to NYSDOH CDC and any other regulatory body
Maintain current knowledge of federal state and local regulations and ensure compliance with infection control safety and OSHA procedures and regulations.
Additional duties as required by the position
EDUCATION TRAINING EXPERIENCE CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
Registered Nurse with current license in New York State required
Bachelors degree in Nursing required
35 years healthcare or public health experience
CIC preferred or must be obtained within 3 years
Masters degree in a healthcare field preferred
BLS required
