Brief Description of Duties

Incumbent functions as Site Coordinator in the Office of TRIO and College Preparatory Programs for the Educational Talent Search Program in the Division of Student Affairs Vice President Student Affairs the University of theDistrict of Columbiaand as such performs the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Program Implementation and Coordination:
    • Develop and implement Talent Search activities and services at assigned school sites.
    • Coordinate and deliver workshops tutoring sessions college visits and other educational activities.
    • Recruit and enroll eligible students into the Talent Search program.
    • Maintain accurate records of student participation and progress.
  2. Student Support:
    • Provide academic career and personal counseling to program participants.
    • Assist students with college applications financial aid forms and scholarship searches.
    • Monitor student academic performance and provide interventions as needed.
  3. Partnerships and Collaboration:
    • Establish and maintain relationships with school staff community organizations and local colleges.
    • Collaborate with school counselors teachers and administrators to identify and support potential Talent Search participants.
    • Engage parents and guardians in the program through regular communication and informational sessions.
  4. Data Management and Reporting:
    • Utilize the Blumen database to record and track student activities services provided and outcomes.
    • Prepare and submit timely reports on program progress and student achievements.
    • Ensure compliance with federal state and institutional regulations and policies.
  5. Administrative Duties:
    • Attend regular staff meetings training sessions and professional development opportunities.
    • Assist in the development and distribution of promotional materials for the Talent Search program.
    • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall success of the program.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Knowledge of vocational and occupational information programs.
  • Understanding and appreciation of the diversity of student interest skills and motivation to establish a climate for open dialogue for maximum student growth and development.
  • Ability to coordinate specific training sessions for students in career development.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of counseling skills appropriate for clients in secondary education.
  • Knowledge of the mission and programs under the jurisdiction of the University of the District of Columbia.
  • Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with individuals from all walks of life including highlevel management officials in the public and private sector as well as groups and organizations.
  • Knowledge of the mission and goals of the Federal TRIO Programs.
  • Ability to work effectively when confronted with emergencies and changing needs.
  • Ability to prepare written summaries of lengthy records and similar types of materials.

Condition of Employment:
This is a sponsored program appointment. The duration of this appointment is subject to grant fund availability.
