- A completed BSc. in Civil Environmental or other relevant Engineering Discipline
- Minimum of seven 7 years progressive experience in civil engineering within transportation construction and land development.
- Must be a Professional Engineer in good standing and registered with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for InterProvincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be considered. Registration with APEGA must be obtained prior to the commencement of employment
- Possess an in depth knowledge of the development processes and procedures as applied in the City of Edmonton
- Must have extensive knowledge of the City of Edmonton Design and Construction Standards

Conditions of employment:

The City of Edmonton is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Engineer to join our Urban Planning & Economy Department. In this pivotal role you will play a key part in the land development process by ensuring the integrity of Servicing Agreement contracts enforcing subdivision conditions and upholding the technical standards of our Design and Construction Standards.
You will also contribute to the evolution of Edmontons infrastructure by supporting the development and maintenance of our Design and Construction Standards. If you are passionate about shaping the citys landscape and possess strong engineering acumen we encourage you to apply.
What will you do:
- Support the development and updating of the City of Edmonton Design and Construction Standards Volume 1 through Volume 8 ensuring policy alignment internal/external stakeholder engagement and program coordination
- Coordinate and support the arterial roadway construction completed each year by developers in accordance with the terms of signed Servicing Agreements. Arterial roadway construction causes significant impact in the day to day lives of City of Edmonton residents and this role ensures that developers complete adequate coordination with City Administration City Council offices and public notifications to area residents
- Play a critical role in the land development process in Edmonton by ensuring that Servicing Agreement contracts for servicing of land are drafted reviewed and executed ensuring that all conditions of subdivision are met and enforced and that the infrastructure delivered complies with the technical requirements of the Design and Construction Standards
- Facilitate the resolution of technical design issues between developers and the City arising from the review of engineering drawings and the establishment of the terms of the Servicing Agreements
- Ensure that all fees and assessments are properly calculated and paid including inspection fees security Permanent Area Contributions (PACs) Arterial Roadway Assessments (ARAs) Boundary Assessments and offsite levies including the Fire Hall levy
- Supervise and mentor development engineers technologists coop students and others who are in supportive roles
- Provide senior level review and support in the establishment of Arterial Roadway Assessment (ARA) rates and recommend approval to the ARA Steering Committee
- Provide senior level review and support in the establishment of drainage basins and Permanent Area Contribution (PAC) rates
- Assist in resolving challenging technical and financial issues relevant to Servicing Agreements in consultation with developers consultants internal City staff including the Legal Services Branch and various utility agencies
- Ensure that all requirements and obligations of Servicing Agreements are met including monitoring and enforcement and pursuing remedies when necessary
- Ensure compliance with APEGA Guidelines Standards Practices as well as the Citys Professional Practice Management Plan (PPMP) and all Standards of Practice (SOPs)
