Turner Industries Group is looking for an experienced Abator for a Maintenance position in Freeport TX.

  • Maintenance Tech needed for Asbestos Lead and Mold remediation/abatement
  • NO PER DIEM ideal for a local candidate living in the Freeport TX area
  • Previous abatement experience required
  • Work schedule subject to change must be available to work callouts and overtime as needed
  • Must be able to pass a background check drug screen and safety council courses in English

General Job Description:

Removes asbestos contraining materials (ACM) from but not limited to boilers pipes tanks vessels

exchangers columns floor tiles and proofing; Must have completed a certified asbestos removal

class and have current certificate and a current state card from the division of air quality.

Functional Requirements:

Removes asbestos from ceilings walls beams boilers and other structures following company

operating proceedures; Assembles scaffolding and seals off work area; Positions mobile

decontamination unit or portable showers at entrance of work area; Positions portable air

evacuation and filtration system inside work area; Sprays chemical solution over asbestos covered

surfaces using tank with attached hose and nozzle to soften asbestos; Cuts and ses asbestos

from surfaces using knife and ser; Shovels asbestos into disposal container; Cleans work area of

loose asbestos using vacuum broom and dust pan and into disposal bags and seals bags using duct

tape; Dismantles scaffolding and temporary walkway using handtools and places plastic sheeting

and disposal bags into transport bags.

Qualification Standards:

  • One 1 to four 4 years of experience in specified skill (depending on mechanic level)
  • Written preemployment qualification test
  • Postoffer drug/alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Hazard Communication orientation/test
  • Turner Industries Group LLC indoctrination
  • OSHA approved corrective eyewear (Z87
  • Job site orientation
  • Job site safety requirements as required by the client (clean shaven long sleeves steel toe boots

etc.

  • Safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat safety glasses gloves respirator hearing

protection safety harness with lanyard etc.

  • Applicant/employee must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of such individual or others

in the work place

Tools/Equipment:

Employee may be required to provide the following: tool box tube cutters hacksaw frame channel

lcoks vise grips center punch screw driver combination square tape adjustable wrench allen

wrench set combination wrenches nut driver folding rule torbedo level pipe wrenches tubing

benders rain suit.

Physical Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: climbing ladders scaffolds structures etc. above and

below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders scaffolds structures etc.; reaching in all

directions handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes

ASBESTOS WORKER (ASB)

hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level waist

level and/or overhead; carrying objects tools equipment etc.; standing; sitting; walking; pushing;

pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; crawling; seeing with or without correction; hearing

with or without correction.

Mental Involvement:

Employee may be required to do the following: following set procedures and standards; applying

basic mathematical skills; planning work and selecting proper tools; comparing and understanding

differences in the size shape and form of lines figures and objects; picturing and evaluating solid

objects from drawing or diagrams using standards that can be measured or checked; following oral

and/or written directions plans and blueprints; reading; writing; ability to recognize and report

safety hazards.

Work Environment Factors:

  • Location: industrial construction sites and/or fabrication shop
  • Mobility Barriers to Access Job Site: uneven ground level; obstructed pathways; work performed at

low and/or high elevations; work performed in confined areas

  • Climatic/Environmental Conditions at Job Site: predominately outdoor climate; may be exposed to

extreme hot or cold weather excessive humidity rain etc.; various noise levels caused by tools

machinery equipment etc.; potential exposure to chemical substances
